Eye-Ruler 2

Overview

Eye-Ruler 2 is a handheld digital measuring system for optical practices that want accurate lens centration without a measuring column. A small Bluetooth device attaches to an iPad, and a measuring clip fits on the patient’s chosen frame. From two photos, the app calculates the far and near vision fitting parameters needed for personalised lenses in less than a minute.

Simple, guided measurement

On-screen guidance takes the operator through each step, and results appear immediately on a clear summary screen. 3D reconstruction technology delivers every standard and personalised measurement:

• Monocular pupillary distances and fitting heights in far vision
• Eye-lens (vertex) distance, pantoscopic tilt and wrap angle
• Reading distance, near vision PDs, segment heights and effective lens diameter
• Head cape and Near Vision Behavior

Near Vision Behavior

Eye-Ruler 2 recreates an everyday reading task to capture the patient’s natural posture and visual behaviour in near vision. The Near Vision Behavior measurement, exclusive to Varilux XR series lenses, uses this to optimise the shape and position of the near vision zone for a smooth adaptation.

Varilux XR series lenses combine four parameters in a tailor-made design. Near Vision Behavior is only available where these lenses are sold.

Frame comparison

The Frame Comparison module photographs the patient wearing different frames so they can compare up to four side by side and choose with confidence. It also keeps the measurement process quick and at a comfortable distance between practitioner and patient.

Because the device is handheld and needs no column, Eye-Ruler 2 suits smaller practices, satellite stores and busy dispensing counters.
