Overview

The APH 550 is an integrated automated phoropter for optometrists and ophthalmic practices. It handles every subjective refraction test from one 10-inch touch screen console, and it drives the chart screen or projector at the same time. Whether you are moving from a manual phoropter or replacing an older automated unit, the APH 550 fits into daily practice quickly. With its optional computer control system and connectivity, it adapts to any clinical setting.

Intuitive controls

The 10-inch touch screen gives easy access to every available test, with the same visual ergonomics as a tablet. A central control knob and buttons adjust power, cross-cylinder and visual acuity charts with one hand, so you can keep your attention on the patient. The screen tilts, the console is compact and the printer is built into the keyboard. Most users find the learning curve short.

A smoother refraction workflow

Import values directly from an auto kerato-refractometer, lensmeter or the patient file in your practice management software. Starting the test close to the final prescription makes the exam shorter and less tiring for the patient. You can customise refraction protocols to your own way of working, then save and compare prescriptions quickly.

The optional APH 550 Computer Control System lets you run the phoropter from a Windows laptop or desktop, switch freely between manual and computer control, and use keyboard shortcuts for rapid data entry.

Designed for comfort

Quiet disc rotation keeps the room calm for patient and practitioner. Quick lens rotations give swift power changes and a smooth experience in the chair. The Split Cross-Cylinder feature shows two cross-cylinder positions at the same time, which makes assessing astigmatism easier and faster for the patient to answer. The APH 550 controls the CS 550 and CS Pola 600 chart screens and the CP 550 projector directly.
