Overview
The CS 550 is a digital chart system for optometry and ophthalmic practices. Its 19-inch LCD screen shows more than 100 general and specialised charts for accurate assessment of visual performance. It works at projection distances from 1.5 to 6 m, includes reversible tests for mirrored rooms and randomises optotypes so patients cannot memorise them. It is supplied with a remote control and wall bracket, and can be controlled directly from the APH 550 automated phoropter.
Charts and visual assessment
- Visual acuity: numbers and letters, ETDRS, Snellen, Landolt C and pictograms for children.
- Specialised tests: contrast from 100% to 1.5%, binocular vision, aniseikonia, red/green, astigmatism, heterophoria and stereoscopic vision.
- Two programmable sequences: set up your usual test order once and run it every time.
- Randomisation: optotypes are shuffled to avoid memorisation.
- Red/green charts: shown in high definition for the duochrome test.
Display and connectivity
The 19-inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels and a luminance of 80 to 250 cd/m². You can operate the CS 550 in three ways: with its own remote control, directly from the APH 550 automatic phoropter console, or from a computer through the APH 550 computer control system. For rooms shorter than 3 m, use a mirror and switch on the reversible tests. A wall bracket is included; a desktop stand, floor stand and red/green glasses are available as options.

Can the CS 550 be used in a small consulting room?
Yes. It works from 1.5 to 6 m and has reversible tests for mirrored rooms. A mirror is recommended under 3 m.
